This totally blew me away - The domain of the affiliate program I was promoting was blacklisted by some spam filters. No wonder I got a bad subscribe rate, as my emails was not even getting delivered to my newsletter subscribers.
After some research, I found out that new domain names (less than 90 days) have a very high chance of getting blacklisted in the spam filters. If you are promoting a brand new program, well - guess what, the domain may be blacklisted just because it is new. This is because a lot of spammers register new domains, and then send out their mass emails and then just throw away the domain and move on. This, of course, affects legitimate marketers like us.
Some spam blocking services also count the occurance of any particular domain and blacklist it if the amount of emails promoting that domain are above their threshold. In fact, if someone else (not you) abuses the system and sends out tons of mail, guess who is going to get affected - ME and YOU!
